Job Description Summary
Klehr Harrison is seeking a Director of Business Development who will be responsible for executing business development initiatives that will support the firm’s overall growth, enhance existing client relationships, and expand the firm’s client base.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the firm’s practice groups on the development, execution and tracking of strategic business development initiatives.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to attorneys and help them to develop and implement their individual business development plans.
  • Lead the development and management of client pitches and proposals by gathering relevant experience, performing research, drafting responses (including writing new content), and securing internal approvals with key stakeholders.
  • Maintain the firm’s representative experience library.
  • Provide ongoing client, prospect, and industry research, competitive intelligence, and analysis of emerging market and industry trends to better position the firm in winning new business.
  • Prepare research and marketing materials for meetings with prospective clients.
  • Work with the Marketing Communications Coordinator to develop marketing collateral related to specific business development opportunities.
  • Evaluate the quality of business events and organizations to help focus attorneys’ efforts on such events and organizations
  • Work with the Marketing Communications Coordinator to identify and secure speaking opportunities for attorneys by monitoring business and industry professional organizations’ event calendars and trade and legal publications.
  • Manage an annual calendar for legal industry rankings, recognitions, and award submissions. Handle completion of submissions.
  • Work with outside vendors to develop training initiatives that help strengthen and expand the attorney’s knowledge and experience in developing and implementing strategies to cultivate business with existing and prospective clients.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or related field
  • A minimum of 10 years of related experience in a law firm environment
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills and the ability to clearly communicate ideas to various audiences
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage and implement multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment
  • Must demonstrate critical thinking skills, including the ability to gather, analyze, and apply research and data to make recommendations consistent with business goals
  • Ability to establish and maintain the trust and confidence of key stakeholders and act as strategic advisor
  • High sense of responsibility, accountability, and focus on responsiveness
  • Displays high attention to detail in work product
  • Advanced user of the MS Ofice suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, as well as
  • Adobe Acrobat, and marketing databases
  • Flexibility and willingness to respond to issues outside of business hours
