Stephen focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation, bringing experience that spans higher education, construction, consumer product safety, employment and waste‑management operations. He advises clients through all stages of legal proceedings, including conducting legal research, drafting memoranda, motions, and briefs, facilitating discovery, and preparing for hearings and trial. He has handled matters in both state and federal courts at the trial and appellate levels.
In addition to his litigation work, Stephen has extensive experience navigating regulatory compliance obligations across highly regulated sectors. This experience includes work in government relations at the state and federal levels. His diverse industry background enables him to guide clients through intricate and often Byzantine statutory frameworks.
Before joining the firm, Stephen practiced as a litigation associate at an Am Law 100 firm in Philadelphia. He previously interned for the Honorable Freda L. Wolfson of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.
Stephen brings a unique interdisciplinary perspective to his legal practice. He holds a Ph.D. in philosophy from Duke University, where his research focused on irrational beliefs, artificial intelligence and ethics. He previously taught at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Bentley University and Tufts University.
