“In my Delaware practice this year, I have seen a noticeable increase in inquiries and engagements from clients with Chinese backgrounds, as well as from attorneys in China.”
Klehr Harrison Harvey Branzburg LLP is pleased to share that on April 29, 2026, attorney Caixia Su participated as a panelist at the 2026 China-America Legal Community Dialogue in New York City. Su, a litigator based in the firm’s Wilmington, Delaware office, discussed her observations and experiences representing clients with Chinese backgrounds amid the evolving United States–China trade relationship.
The event was organized by Intelligeast, a Chinese legal intelligence company, in partnership with the Asian American Bar Association of New York. A delegation of attorneys from New York City–based law firms met with 46 attorneys from firms across China, including managing partners and senior partners.
In her discussion, Su highlighted several notable trends: an increase over the past two years in the number of Chinese companies registering to do business in the United States; growing demand for legal opinion letters relating to Chinese companies’ Delaware subsidiaries; and a rise in inquiries concerning litigation in Delaware. She also emphasized the potential for attorneys in China and the United States to strengthen collaboration, particularly in the discovery phase of cross-border disputes.
“With the changing U.S.–China trade relationship and U.S. import controls, Chinese businesses are increasingly seeking to move operations overseas—particularly to the United States—rather than relying solely on product exports,” Su noted. “In my Delaware practice this year, I have seen a noticeable increase in inquiries and engagements from clients with Chinese backgrounds, as well as from attorneys in China.”
Su focuses her practice on Delaware complex commercial and corporate litigation and is actively involved in all phases of the firm’s Delaware litigation practice, regularly counseling clients on complex corporate law issues.
With a distinguished academic background from China, Su was a nationally recognized legal scholar and professor at Zhongnan University of Economics & Law before immigrating to the United States. Over the course of more than a decade, she served as a full professor of law, a director, and an associate dean, taught, and authored (or co-authored) four treatises and published over 70 papers, establishing her reputation in China’s legal community. As a native Mandarin speaker with a deep understanding of both Chinese law and U.S. legal practices, Su has represented clients with Chinese backgrounds in a range of matters, including mergers and acquisitions disputes, investment disputes, business divorce and derivative claims. She remains committed to serving clients with Chinese backgrounds doing business in the U.S. and with the U.S.
