We are pleased to share that on November 15, 2025, attorneys Richard M. Beck and Caixia Su presented at Columbia University in New York at the Mingde Forum, a trademarked annual event hosted by the Renmin University of China North America Alumni Association (RUCNAAA). This year’s theme was “Global Rebalancing: Power, Rules, and Innovation.” Their presentation, A Delaware Attorney’s Perspective: Best Practices for Conducting Business in the U.S., was delivered to an audience of approximately 250 professionals representing a wide range of industries across the United States, China and Hong Kong (China).
Earlier this year, Beck, a partner in the firm’s Litigation Department and Bankruptcy & Restructuring Department, and Su, a commercial and corporate litigation associate, were engaged as general counsel to the RUCNAAA. Renmin University of China—where Su earned her Ph.D. in law—is one of China’s top research institutions and is often considered an equivalent to the Ivy League in the United States. The Mingde Forum has been held consecutively for 11 years and is recognized as a signature annual event of the RUCNAAA.
During the Forum, Beck served as a panelist and shared insights based on his 35 years of experience as a business and corporate law attorney, with an emphasis on Delaware entities. His presentation covered foundational considerations for operating a business in the U.S., including selecting the appropriate business structure, corporate governance, compliance with labor and employment laws, best practices for contracting, and issues related to bankruptcy and financial restructuring. After his remarks, discussions occurred with the forum attendees. Beck also met with Mr. Yafeng Wu, President of the RUCNAAA, to explore additional avenues for cooperation.
Beck focuses his practice on complex business litigation and corporate bankruptcy and is regularly involved in commercial disputes in federal and state courts in Delaware and throughout the United States. He represents businesses and other constituencies in sophisticated litigation and bankruptcy matters, and frequently appears before the Delaware Court of Chancery, the Complex Commercial Litigation Division of the Delaware Superior Court, and the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.
In addition to his trial practice, Beck has advised clients in a diverse array of specialized engagements, including representing assignees for the benefit of creditors in voluntary assignment proceedings in the Delaware Court of Chancery, representing independent directors and other independent fiduciaries in corporate investigations, representing businesses in out-of-court restructurings and Article 9 transactions, participating in litigation and restructuring cases in Canada in connection with cross border disputes, and being retained as an expert witness on Delaware corporate law and Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
