PHILADELPHIA (April 9, 2024) – Klehr Harrison Harvey Branzburg LLP congratulates Lisa Lori, a partner in the Litigation Department, on her selection as the next president of Marywood University. On April 9, 2024, Marywood University announced that Lori will become the 13th President in the university’s history and will be the first lay President of the university since its founding 109 years ago. Lori succeeds Sister Mary Persico, IHM, Ed.D., who has served as Marywood’s President since 2016 and is retiring on June 30, 2024. Lori’s tenure as President will begin July 1, 2024. She has previously served as Chair of the Board of Trustees since 2016.
“I am honored to be selected to serve as Marywood’s President and excited for this new chapter in my career,” said Lori. “As President, I will aim to continue the university’s vital mission to ensure Marywood is a leading academic institution for future generations and an economic engine for the region.”

Lori is an experienced litigator and strategic business advisor with extensive experience representing higher education institutions. She has served as General Counsel to La Salle University and has also co-chaired the education and healthcare industry groups at Klehr Harrison. She specializes in solving clients’ most complex problems, whether through litigation in courts or arbitration forums or working behind the scenes to find solutions. For more than 20 years, she has proven herself before judges, juries and other decision makers in boardrooms across the nation. She has been recognized as a leading general commercial litigation attorney in Pennsylvania by Chambers USA. In 2023, she was honored with an Above & Beyond Award by City & State Pennsylvania for her work as Board Chair at Marywood University. Jefferson University Physicians appointed Lori to their Board of Directors in 2021.
Lori is an alumna of Marywood University, having earned her undergraduate degree at the university. She earned her LL.M. in Trial Advocacy and her J.D., cum laude, from Temple University School of Law. She is also a graduate of Wyoming Seminary in Kingston, PA.
