Klehr Harrison Twice Named to The Legal Intelligencer’s 2023 Watch List

Klehr Harrison is proud to share that the firm has been named to The Legal Intelligencer’s 2023 Watch List.

The publication’s first-ever annual Watch List recognizes small to midsize firms (up to 250 attorneys) in Pennsylvania. According to its website, the editorial team selects firms that thrive in areas including new practice areas, diversity/inclusion, innovation, firm growth, notable verdicts, community outreach, and more.

Klehr Harrison was selected to the Watch List under two areas. The first of which is “New Practice Area Launched.” More specifically, the selection committee selected our firm for “the formalization of the firm’s education practice.” The second area is “Notable Clients/Verdicts.” The selection committee cited our selection for “the significance of Klehr Harrison Harvey Branzburg’s recent and current real estate, finance, zoning and land use representations.”

New Practice Area Launched. As educational institutions face unprecedented challenges, our multidisciplinary team of lawyers has the skill, experience and tenacity to help these institutions navigate these challenges. In the fall of 2022, we formally established an Education industry group that focuses on higher education institutions as well as K-12 institutions. The practice, led by Corporate and Securities Department Chair Bill Matthews and Litigation Partner Lisa Lori, provides litigation, transactional and general business counseling services to academic institutions locally, regionally and nationally. Not only do our attorneys serve as legal counsel to educational institutions, but several also serve as university and college trustees, including serving as chairs of universities’ boards of trustees. Both Lori and Matthews are intimately familiar with the challenges faced by educational institutions having served on several school and university boards of trustees and being active members of the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania (AICUP).

Notable Clients/Verdicts. Klehr Harrison is widely recognized as both a premier real estate and finance practice and zoning and land use practice in the region, providing counsel to clients across all industry types and asset classes. Chambers USA Guide has continually recognized the firm as “leading lawyers for business” in Pennsylvania in the categories of Real Estate, Real Estate: Finance and Real Estate: Zoning/Land Use. Furthermore, 10 attorneys received individual rankings in real estate categories. Our Real Estate and Finance team is led by Steve Cutler and Denise Day. Herc Grigos and Ron Patterson lead our Zoning and Land Use practice group. The firm advised on multiple projects recognized by the Philadelphia Business Journal in their Best Real Estate Deals of 2022, including all three winners in the Single-Family and Condo category, as well as winners in the Industrial Development and Hospitality categories. The firm was also involved with the Deal of the Year – a 520,000-square-foot life sciences building on Drexel University’s campus. In addition, our team continues to work on other prominent projects throughout the city, including the revitalization of the Bellwether District and the development of a new Sixers arena.

The Legal Intelligencer is the oldest daily law journal published in the United States, keeping Pennsylvania’s legal professionals up to date on the latest industry developments with editorial coverage and news on court decisions, verdicts and practice issues.
