New Leadership to Take the Helm of Klehr Harrison’s Respected Real Estate Department

PHILADELPHIA (January 4, 2024) – Klehr Harrison Harvey Branzburg LLP is pleased to announce that effective January 1, 2024, Partners Hercules Grigos, Jonathan Maslow and Lee Sussman have taken over leadership of the Real Estate and Finance Department as Co-Chairs. Ron Patterson will remain the sole Chair of the Zoning and Land Use Practice Group.

Grigos joined the firm in 2019 and has served as Co-Chair of the Zoning and Land Use Practice Group since 2021. He has been instrumental in growing the firm’s zoning and land use footprint. Maslow has been with the firm since 2011 and leads the firm’s sales and acquisition practice. He has also been a prominent voice in the development of associate attorneys. Sussman has been with the firm since 2002 and leads the firm’s national commercial leasing practice. He has also been the department’s hiring partner for the last five years, helping to shape the future of the group.

“A new generation of leaders is ready to step up, and I look forward to working with Herc, Lee and Jonathan in their new roles as they build upon the department’s existing success,” said Managing Partner Brad Krouse. “Under the leadership of our outgoing Co-Chairs Stephan Cutler and Denise Day, the real estate department continued to grow and expand its profile as the top real estate department in the City.”

“I joined Klehr Harrison nearly five years ago for the opportunity to grow and develop my practice, and this is the next step in that evolution,” said Grigos. “Serving as Co-Chair of the Zoning and Land Use Practice Group over the last three years has helped prepare me to step into this role for the entire department.”

“Herc, Lee and I bring different skillsets to the department’s leadership, which I think will make us a balanced group of leaders,” said Maslow. “We also represent a great cross-section of the department, covering transactional and finance, leasing and zoning and land use, which will allow for even greater collaboration among our team.”

“Klehr Harrison is regarded as a top real estate and finance practice in the region because of our diverse and deep skill sets and decades of experience,” added Sussman. “The new leadership team exemplifies that position, and we’re eager to continue the firm’s tradition of excellence and client service.”

Grigos represents some of the largest and most complex projects in the region. He focuses his practice on real estate development, particularly on zoning and land use, including handling permits, zoning approvals, land development, acquisitions, financing and leasing. Grigos is especially adept at guiding real estate deals with building new properties, from navigating the municipal process and acquisition through the entitlement, financing and construction process, and, finally, through leasing and disposition. He earned his law degree from Widener University School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Boston College.

Maslow represents equity investors, owners and developers in commercial real estate transactions, including entity, asset and portfolio company acquisitions and dispositions, office and retail leasing, sale-leasebacks and financings. He is currently a Lecturer in Law at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, co-teaching an advanced-level course on transactional law drafting called “Transactional Law Bootcamp.” He earned his law degree from Temple University Beasley School of Law, cum laude, and his undergraduate and master’s degrees from the University of Pennsylvania.

Sussman, with more than 25 years of experience, focuses his practice on the representation of owners, developers, investors, landlords, and tenants in the acquisition, development and leasing of all types of commercial real estate, with a particular focus on representing landlords and tenants in the negotiation of complex leases involving retail, office, industrial and mixed-use properties. He earned his law degree from The George Washington University Law School and his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan.
